Bill Nye the Science Guy Gets Married to Journalist Liza Mundy

The fan-favorite Science Guy has finally gotten hitched. The popular science educator, Bill Nye, recently tied the knot with Liza Mundy, a celebrated journalist. The couple got married at the Castle Building’s Haupt Garden of the Smithsonian Institute in Washington D.C.

The Ceremony

Actor Robert Picardo, of Star Trek fame, officiated the intimate and private ceremony of Bill Nye and Liza Mundy. According to a source, when the pair recited their marital vows, it was equal parts comical and moving. Nothing less was expected from a couple full of energetic vibes and a sense of humor. Engineer Bill Nye sported his father’s cufflinks for the big day. The small blue stones in the center added a perfect touch of neat glamor. On the other hand, the New York Times best-selling author and former Washington Post reporter Liza Mundy walked down the aisle in a gorgeous satin sleeveless mermaid gown. A beaded belt matching her pretty colorful bouquet completed her bridal ensemble.

The Celebration

After the official wedding ceremony, the bride and groom hosted their guests at a grand reception that was filled with sweet sentiments. Darby, Bill’s brother, and Anna, Liza’s daughter, congratulated the newlyweds with heartfelt toasts. Mundy slightly upgraded her wedding attire by changing into sparkly sneakers. The couple swayed to a rendition of “What a Wonderful World” by Sam Cooke for their first dance. Every beautiful moment of the memorable celebration was captured by none other than Pete Souza, the White House photographer.

The Meet

The charismatic duo first met over an email conversation. Bill Nye discovered that Liza Mundy mentioned Jacqueline Jenkins-Nye, his mother, in her book, titled Code Girls: The Untold Story of the American Women Code Breakers of World War II. Nye couldn’t help himself, and reached out to Mundy. During the time, the two inquisitive minds bonded over their mutual passion for learning and love of storytelling, and the rest was history!
