From the Runway to the Aisle: Fashion Show Inspires a Santa Barbara Wedding

Runway Inspires a Hot Pink Wedding in Santa Barbara

Cierra O’Day Johnson and Roman Tyukayev’s love story began with a chance encounter at a coffee shop. She immediately took the opportunity to strike up a conversation, returning frequently that summer to see him. With a latte in hand and a heart full of courage, Cierra took her chance, and a sweet romance began to brew. Their connection blossomed, leading to a beautiful proposal later on, which Cierra never saw coming. Roman, together with jewelry brand Charlie Beads, staged a fake photoshoot to surprise Cierra, and she happily said ‘yes’ to spending forever together.

A Dream Venue by the Coast

A Dream Venue by the Coast

Cierra and Roman always dreamed of exchanging vows on the picturesque coast, and Santa Barbara became their top choice. After touring potential venues, they fell in love with Dos Pueblos Orchid Farm, a place filled with coastal beauty. The farm held a special significance for Cierra, as a cow with the number 11 on its ear tag paid them a lucky visit, symbolizing her family’s lucky number.

Cierra had a unique vision for her wedding, and instead of the typical bohemian beach wedding, she wanted to make a splash with a vibrant hot pink theme. Inspired by the Jacquemus Spring/Summer 2020 runway show, featuring a hot pink runway cutting through lavender fields, Cierra knew she had found the perfect inspiration. With the help of Wild Heart Events, she meticulously curated every decorative element to reflect the Barbiecore aesthetic she had in mind.

On her big day, Cierra looked absolutely radiant in a sleek, silk, off-the-shoulder wedding dress designed by Katherine Tash. She added a personal touch by accessorizing with a chunky pearl necklace and matching earrings from her own jewelry brand, Charlie Beads. Her hairstyle, a low ponytail tied back with a pearl-studded ribbon, was both elegant and comfortable, perfect for dancing the night away. Even the bridesmaids were asked to wear any dress they wanted, with the only condition being that the dress should be pink. The groomsmen matched with laid-back yet stylish black pants and linen button-down shirts.

As the sun set, the venue turned into a magical space with string lights, creating the illusion of a starry night. Cierra changed into a pink ruffled mini dress and Versace heels. With Dart Collective playing their favorite tunes, Cierra and Roman danced the night away, cherishing moments with their loved ones. It was a wedding that Barbie herself would envy—brimming with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments.
