With the imminent arrival of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s first child, many fans of the Royal couple are wondering what they are going to call the baby. Amazingly, record-breaking amounts of money have been placed on a variety of details, including the gender, date of birth and even the name of the baby.
Fans of the royal family have been in a frenzy ever since Meghan and Harry announced that they were expecting back in October 2018. While Kensington Palace has only unveiled a handful of details, this hasn’t stopped people from speculating about what they’d call the “Sussex baby.”
Many fans have flocked to their nearest bookmakers to place bets on all of the key details about the baby. According to bookmakers.tv, it is believed that over $10,000 has already been placed on bets.
Previously, when William and Kate’s children were on their way, they racked up a combined betting fee of just under $4,000. “Meghan and Harry’s popularity is off the charts and their good news will send the public into a royal betting frenzy of epic proportions,” Philip Trampe said, who works for bookmakers.tv.
“Fans are so keen to speculate on every aspect of the baby and millions will be riding on the name, arrival date, and sex among many other predictions. Up until now, Harry and Meghan’s wedding was the Royal event attracting the largest number of novelty bets on record as bookies took in just over 3.5m in bets.”
Without a doubt, the most popular bet to place on the imminent arrival is the name of Meghan’s baby. As of now, the favorite is Victoria and it has been the favorite since the announcement.
The most popular choices for a boy include the names, Philip, Albert, and Arthur. While the other frontrunners for a girl are Diana and Alice.
“Victoria has been the most popular name in our Royal baby betting by some distance, therefore, it is the clear favorite ahead of Albert, Diana and Philip,” Coral spokesperson John Hill said.
